Gin Barrel Aged Coffee

In our home, the beautiful state of Vermont, we are continuously impressed by the creativity, experimentation, and pursuit of quality we see in the people who live here and in the businesses they run. Working in such a place, we are inspired to explore uncharted territories of our own craft. One of our most successful experiments to date has been with barrel aging coffees. We’ve been playing around with it since the beginning and, so far, this specific combination of coffee and barrel is one of our favorites.
The barrel we used came from Caledonia Spirits, of Hardwick, Vermont (www.caledoniaspirits.com/spirit/tomcat/). Originally they used it for their impeccable Barr Hill Reserve Tom Cat Gin. This once-distilled gin, made with a touch of honey and aged in new American oak barrels, is itself experimental territory. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re in for a treat.Into this special gin barrel we placed our Costa Rica La Minita Estate coffee. Once roasted, we found that the natural sweetness of this coffee mingled enticingly with the juniper, oak, and raw honey of the gin. The result is an exquisitely unique brew. We recommend this one for gin-lovers and adventurous spirits.
